FAQ's

What is an air ambulance?
An air ambulance is an FAA approved business jet, configured specifically for air medical transport. At Premier Jets, our Learjet 35 and Learjet 36 aircraft are equipped with a medical stretcher system, oxygen, patient monitors, IV fluids, and emergency medications. The medical crew sits beside the patient, while accompanying family members typically sit in the rear of the cabin.
Who needs an air ambulance?
Air ambulance services are for patients who are:
-
Too far from appropriate medical care for ground transportation
-
Not medically stable enough to travel on a commercial airline
This includes critically ill patients, trauma patients, and those requiring specialized or higher-level medical care closer to home.
How do I arrange air ambulance services?
You may contact Premier Jets directly or through one of our trusted industry partners. To secure your flight:
-
Contact our Mission Planning Specialists
-
Approve the quote and payment plan
-
Coordinate medical and logistical details with our team
Email: operations@premierjets.com

How quickly can you mobilize?
Mobilization time depends on several factors, including aircraft location, distance to the patient, crew availability, international requirements, and mission complexity. In some cases, mobilization can occur in as little as two hours; in others, additional planning time may be required to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and appropriate coordination of care.
During the quoting process, our experienced operations team will review each request's details and provide a realistic mobilization timeline based on the specific mission requirements.

What aircraft will transport me?
We operate a fleet of Learjet 35 and 36 aircraft, which are internationally recognized as among the safest and most cost-effective air ambulance platforms in the world. Our Learjet 36 aircraft feature extended-range tip tanks, enabling fewer fuel stops, faster travel times, and lower mission costs.
Who will provide medical care during my flight?
A typical medical team includes two licensed clinicians, such as:
-
A Critical Care Registered Nurse
-
A Respiratory Therapist or Paramedic
If medically necessary or requested by the patient’s physician, a flight doctor can be added.

How should I prepare for the flight?
Once booked, please stay in close contact with your Premier Jets Flight Coordinator. Flights may last up to six hours. Cabin temperatures are maintained at a comfortable level; however, we recommend bringing a light jacket for comfort.
Do I need to arrange my own ground ambulance?
You may, but we strongly recommend that you allow Premier Jets to coordinate both the sending and receiving of ground ambulances. This ensures:
-
Smooth medical handoffs
-
Proper timing with aircraft arrival
-
Compliance with patient transfer protocols
This approach helps prevent delays and communication gaps.
How much does an air ambulance cost?
Air ambulance pricing is based on:
-
Total flight hours
-
Return of the aircraft and crew
-
International handling and landing fees
-
Fuel costs
-
Required medical or flight crew additions
-
Crew lodging for multi-day missions
Quotes are typically available within 1–2 hours of receiving your mission details.

How many family members can travel?
Generally, one family member may accompany the patient. The cabin contains medical equipment, oxygen systems, and the clinical team, which limits space for additional passengers.
Are meals provided?
There is no onboard galley; however, we provide:
-
Boxed meals
-
Coffee
-
Water
-
Soft drinks
-
Packaged snacks
Special dietary requests can be accommodated with advance notice.
How much luggage can I bring?
Cabin space is limited. We recommend:
-
One small personal item (purse or laptop bag)
-
One small carry-on size (soft-sided is preferred) bag per person
For additional items, we recommend shipping luggage in advance.
Are pets allowed?
Possibly depending on:
-
The country of travel
-
The pet’s size and weight
-
Required vaccination records
-
Airline and customs regulations
A crate is often required. If transporting your pet is not feasible, we can assist with arranging commercial pet transportation.
